What is an absentee ballot?
An absentee ballot is for people who are registered to vote but are unable to attend the polls on election day.
Who is eligible to receive an absentee ballot? (Any one reason below qualifies you for an absentee ballot)
o You must be 60 years of age or older.
o You expect to be absent from the community in which you are registered for the entire time the polls are open.
o You are physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another.
o You cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of your religion.
o You have been appointed an election precinct inspector in a precinct other than the precinct where you reside.
o You cannot attend the polls because you are confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial.
How can I get an absentee ballot?
Absentee ballots can be obtained by calling your City offices at 734-848-6495. You can also write to the Clerks office requesting an absentee ballot or stop into the office during office hours to apply at 4357 Buckeye St. Office hours are Monday – Thursday 8 am – 5 pm and Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
If you are in the military service or overseas you can contact your commanding officer and receive a Federal Post Card Registration and Absentee Ballot (FPCA). If you are a citizen overseas you can contact your consulate office.

The City of Luna Pier maintains a permanent absentee list. You can call or write the City Clerk and ask to be placed on this absentee ballot permanent list. The phone number is 734-848-6495. The address is Luna Pier City Hall, Clerk’s Office, 4357 Buckeye St., Luna Pier, MI 48157.
After being placed on this list you will receive an application for an absentee ballot for every election. You will need to fill it out, sign and return the application to receive your ballot.
