City Hall is open from 8:00AM - 2:00PM on Saturday, July 31, 2010 should you need anything for the upcoming elections. 

 

The next Election Day will be here before we know it!

 

You may register to vote at City Hall during regular business hours or at your local Secretary of State branch office.  We also have registration forms on our website that may be printed out at home along with a registration link to the State of Michigan so that you can check your own registration status if you wish.  www.cityoflunapier.com (under Clerk's tab)

 

 

If you need an Absent Voter Ballot Application, please stop at City Hall during regular business hours or call me at 734-848-6495 ext. 200. I can mail an Absent Voter Ballot Application to you.

 

Our primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Fire Hall. The last day to register for this election is Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Absentee ballots will be available early July by calling or stopping at City Hall to request an absentee ballot application.

Absentee Ballots - Information and Instructions for Registered Voters

What is an absentee ballot?

An absentee ballot is for people who are registered to vote but are unable to attend the polls on election day.

 

Who is eligible to receive an absentee ballot? (Any one reason below qualifies you for an absentee ballot)

o     ÂYou must be 60 years of age or older.

o     ÂYou expect to be absent from the community in which you are registered for the entire time the polls are open.

o     ÂYou are physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another.

o     ÂYou cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of your religion.

o     ÂYou have been appointed an election precinct inspector in a precinct other than the precinct where you reside.

o     ÂYou cannot attend the polls because you are confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial.

 

How can I get an absentee ballot?

          ÂAbsentee ballots can be obtained by calling your City offices at 734-848-6495.ÂYou can also write to the Clerks office requesting an absentee ballot or stop into the office during office hours to apply at 4357 Buckeye St.ÂOffice hours are Monday – Thursday 8 am – 5 pm and Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.

 

          ÂIf you are in the military service or overseas you can contact your commanding officer and receive a Federal Post Card Registration and Absentee Ballot (FPCA).ÂIf you are a citizen overseas you can contact your consulate office.

 

How can I be put on the permanent absentee list?

          ÂThe City of Luna Pier maintains a permanent absentee list.ÂYou can call or write the City Clerk and ask to be placed on this absentee ballot permanent list.ÂThe phone number is 734-848-6495.ÂThe address is Luna Pier City Hall, Clerk’s Office,  4357 Buckeye St., Luna Pier, MI 48157.

 

          ÂAfter being placed on this list you will receive an application for an absentee ballot for every election.ÂYou will need to fill it out, sign and return the application to receive your ballot.
